De Novo, LLC (the “De Novo,” “we,” or “us”) is committed to protecting private and personal data it collects and processes. We want to be sure you understand our privacy practices so you are informed about what happens to data you provide to us or that we obtain from third-party sources. This Privacy Policy explains the types of data we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and the rights of data subjects. 


Data We Collect

We process data that we obtain from public websites and other public sources concerning attorneys who work, or have worked, at the law firms we track. This collection and processing of personal data is a component of the services we provide to our customers, such as to legal recruiters and law firm personnel. We also process other data that third parties provide to us to address our business and legal obligations.

Data About Lawyers Who Work at Law Firms 

As part of its proprietary database, De Novo collects and stores in a searchable database publicly available personal data about attorneys that work at law firms. De Novo does not collect any personal data directly from the attorneys. The information is collected primarily from the attorney’s profile as it appears on the attorney’s law firm website. Where available, De Novo also supplements attorneys’ profiles by collecting data from other publicly available sources, such as state bar websites and LinkedIn. The publicly available personal data in De Novo’s attorney database includes name, phone number, gender, diversity information, e-mail address, office location, education and employment information. 


As part of its CRM, De Novo collects and data and information entered by users, including Notes, contact information (personal email addresses and phone numbers), call history, and in some cases, emails.  De Novo does not share this information with anyone but may use the data in the aggregate to process it for analytics purposes.


Personal Data of Website Users 

We may collect your IP address and use cookies, which are small files that are placed on your computer. We will use only temporary cookies that are necessary for the site’s functionality, security and accessibility. 

If you choose to email or connect with us through our website, we may process only the information you provide to us, namely your contact information (name and email address). We process this personal data to communicate directly with you, as necessary. If you or your company becomes our customer, we will further process your personal data as described below under “Personal Data of Customers.” 


Personal Data of Customers 

If you subscribe to our services (a “Customer”), we will process certain of your data in order to fulfill the subscription and maintain a business relationship with you and your company and improve the overall operations of De Novo. We process certain personal information (such as contact name, address, email address, phone number and other contact details) to communicate with you directly about your subscription, subscription renewals, and available upgrades or other details concerning the services we provide. We process other data, including your subscription history, payment details, credit card number and related information, bank name, and bank account number to manage payment for the subscription. We may also process other data, including any data you enter on our website, in order to improve our algorithms and analytics.  We may also use your name and email address to send to you marketing and sales information on our products that you or your Company may be interested in and will obtain your consent in advance of doing so where applicable Data Protection Law requires it. You can opt out of receiving marketing communications at the time you receive the marketing communication. 


We may provide our Customers additional details about the purposes of data processing in connection with their subscriptions or other contracts either in our terms of use, or through email, or through any other manner. A copy of our current terms and conditions can be found at 


Legal Basis for Processing Data 

We process personal data in accordance with applicable United States federal, state, and local data privacy laws, if any, and in accordance with other laws as they apply to us. At this time, De Novo does not change its practices in response to any Do Not Track (“DNT”) browser setting or signal it may receive.



Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data of Website Users 

We process the personal data of our website users as described in this Privacy Policy based on our legitimate interests in performing the essential functions of our website and of our company, to determine the best job fit for everyone. We also use this information to communicate with anyone making an inquiry or request to us.


If you are located in the European Union (“EU”) you may have the right to object to processing of your personal data collected through our website by submitting your request to We will consider and respond to the request in accordance with applicable law, if any. 



Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data of Lawyers In Our Database 

We process the publicly available personal data of lawyers who work at law firms as described in this Privacy Policy based on our legitimate interests in (1) offering a comprehensive database of attorneys to our Customers, (2) building and processing learning algorithms and leveraging artificial intelligence to determine which lawyers would be the best fit (i.e., have the highest likelihood of success) for a position within a law firm, group within a law firm, or working for specific lawyers, and (3) analyzing various statistics and trends in the market. Customers enter into contracts with us to receive a compilation of publicly available information on attorneys so they can identify attorney candidates for job opportunities. We undertake the collection, categorization, and analysis of publicly available personal data of lawyers so that the data is easily searchable and usable by Customers, to enable them to easily and efficiently fill job positions, and and so that De Novo can process and analyze this data to determine which lawyers would be the best fit for a given position. Customers are required to use the publicly available personal data only for lawful purposes and and cannot sell the data with any third party for any reason. 


Attorneys who are located in the EU whose personal data is processed by us may have the right to object to processing of their personal data by submitting a request to We will consider and respond to the request in accordance with applicable law, if any.



Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data of Customers  

We process personal data of Customers for the legitimate interests of addressing our contractual obligations with them and in improving the overall business offerings of De Novo. Our processing of personal data allows us to provide, receive, and analyze information and services pursuant to agreements, to carry out requests, and to improve the offerings of De Novo. 


All Customers must provide all personal data that is required for De Novo to accept and carry out its contractual obligations and fulfill its business obligations.   



Other Legitimate Reasons 

We may also process personal data for other legitimate reasons as required by us from time to time. Such legitimate reasons include the following: (1) optimizing customer service; (2) asserting legal claims and defenses in legal disputes or otherwise as required by law, including, but not limited to, complying with a subpoena, court order, or in conjunction with other legal processes or judicial proceedings; (3) responding to any audit, complaint, or security threat; (4) developing and improving De Novo’s services and offerings; and (5) protecting De Novo’s rights (including claims of fraud, violations, of law, or any misuse of De Novo’s information).

Who Can Access Data

Within De Novo, anyone who requires the personal data to create or manage our databases or fulfill our contractual and legal obligations will have access to it. 

De Novo will share your personal data with third parties only if necessary to fulfill any applicable, lawful business activity, as set forth in this Privacy Policy, or if necessary for any legal reasons.  For example, De Novo may share personal data with service providers or other third parties for purposes of providing customer support, to address legal or other official obligations or otherwise necessary to carry out our business relationship with our Customers. 


Location of Data

De Novo stores information in secure databases both in the United States and abroad (in Europe). De Novo also may also use third-party developers outside of the U.S. to help collect data from public sources noted above, and De Novo’s team is international.  As a company, De Novo is based in Los Angeles, California.


Additional Privacy Rights for EU Residents

Currently, De Novo is primarily geared to assist lawyers in the United States.  However, if you are located in the EU, subject to exceptions and limitations, you may have various rights in connection with your data, such as the right to access and obtain a copy of whatever records we have, the right to change or edit data about you, the right to opt out of processing your data (or delete your profile), or to transfer your personal data to another entity.  You also have the right to withdraw your consent at any time. Marketing Practices

From time to time, we may process personal data of Customers, potential Customers, and/or website users to assess their preferences for marketing purposes. For example, we may process data in order to notify and advise Customers, potential Customers, and/or website users about available products, services, and/or other offerings; processing this data will enable De Novo to ensure that its communications and marketing materials are tailored. We will ask for consent before sending marketing communications when required by any applicable data protection law. Each marketing communication will also include a mechanism for opting out of future marketing communications. 


Links to Other Websites 

De Novo’s website or its proprietary database may contain tools, technology, or links to third-party websites. Information on any of these websites may include embedded content, such as videos, images, articles, etc. This embedded content behaves in the same way as if the visitor has visited the other website and is not controlled by De Novo or governed by this Privacy Policy. Additionally, third-party websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website. 


You acknowledge and agree that De Novo is not responsible for the collection and use of your information by such third parties. We recommend that you review the privacy policies of each website you visit. 


Children’s Privacy

De Novo’s website and proprietary databases are directed to people over the age of 18.  De Novo also does not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18. If you become aware that any child or minor has provided us with information without consent, please contact us at
